The future's bright - the future's Boris

At the same time as getting his ducks in order to run for Lord Mayor of London, Boris Johnson was firing up a campaign to rid South Oxfordshire of incandescent light bulbs.

A reward of 50p is being offered by ECO-St and Oxford University's ClimateXchange programme to anyone swapping a working light bulb for any of the 90 different low energy bulbs stocked by ECO-St's shop in Chinnor, near Thame.

On learning that low energy bulbs only use only one fifth of the electricity of an incandescent bulb the Henley MP immediately purchased two for his Oxfordshire home, along with a solar powered mobile phone charger.

‘I think you are onto a winner here', Boris told Neil Morgan, founder of ECO-St.

ECO-St is a new nationwide retail concept that is being launched within garden centres.  ECO-St (http://www.eco-st.com/) sells everything that can reduce a person's carbon footprint.  The first ECO-St store is being piloted in Boris Johnson's constituency at Chinnor Garden Centre, south of Oxford.
