Low Carbon Greener Homes

Information about the Low Carbon Greener Homes talk in South Oxford on 6th June.

The Low Carbon Greener Homes event was held in the Duke of  Monmouth pub, on Abingdon Road.

Organised by Low Carbon South Oxford's Greener Homes group, the evening aimed to give an introduction to some of the approaches and technologies that might be relevant for greening your home.

 

Energy Saving in Western Road.

Tim Treacher gave an account of their home renovation, which started with energy saving and radiator controls, and has so far included underfloor insulation, secondary glazing, water saving, energy monitoring, passive solar heating from a conservatory, and solar photo voltaics.

Solid Wall Insulation.

Dan Browne of Williams and Browne Ltd gave an overview of Solid wall homes and energy use, covering the decisions of whether to insulate Inside or Outside, how much to insulate, Understanding buildings, dealing with summer overheating, managing moisture in homes and low energy healthy homes.

Solar Photovoltaic electricity systems

Tom Heel of Southern Solar Ltd gave an overview of Solar Photovoltaics (PV) for solar electricity, covering the background to Solar PV, issues to consider when siting a solar PV system, and how the Feed In Tariff works.
