Many people who have visited an Eco-home during the open days events want to find out more, and need a hand taking their next step on the eco-renovation path. The Oxfordshire Eco-renovators club will help you do just that. Join here.

Tues 24th Nov 8pm - ‘Achieving a Low Carbon Home'

with Sally Harper at Brightwell cum Sotwell Village Hall, West end, Brightwell cum Sotwell, nr Wallingford, Oxon OX10 0RT.Free event with the Brightwell cum Sotwell Environment Group followed by a discussion of  possible projects in the Village.

 
 

Weds 25th Nov - 7.30 - 9pm Solar PV at the Solar Electric House

If you're considering solar photovoltaics on your house, then this is the event for you. Chris has renovated his house with a 1.82 kW solar photovoltaic roof, which produces 1500 kWh of green electricity per year, making the house a net exporter of electricity.

He'll be there to talk about his experience, answer questions and give practical information. He's also an installer with JoJu ltd http://www.joju.co.uk/index.php

Mon 30th Nov -  Oxfordshire Eco-renovation Club Launch

 

7.30 - 9pm, at Oxford University Centre for the Environment: Dyson Perrins Building, South Parks Rd, Oxford OX1 3QY.

April 23-24th 2010 Save the date: Oxfordshire Ideal Green Home Show – Oxford Town Hall

 

 From September 2009 onwards, we'll be inviting people who are keen to take their next step to join the eco-renovation club and receive:

  • A one- to-one assessment of their current energy consumption, identifying their quick wins, and medium term opportunities for eco-renovation  (delivered by ClimateX and trained Eco-renovation facilitators)
  • Loan of current cost meters and low energy light bulb libraries
  • Regular updates about events, offers, grants, workshops, services and resources
  • Tailored events to share their experiences, and talk to those who have eco-renovated their properties
  • Discounted professional eco-renovation advisory consultation
  • Discounted micro-generation installation   
  • Technical  information about home eco-renovation. 
  • Signposted to case studies of similar properties.

If you're interested in helping raise the awareness of Eco-renovation in your locality, maybe you'd like to become a voluntary 'Ecorenovation facilitator'.

Here's the deal:

  • We train you up to advise and support between 5-10 people near you who are interested in eco-renovation
  • We'll train you to give a short talk on the eco-renovation opportunity
  • We'll give you some tools, gadgets and books to demonstrate
  • You'll get the support of researchers and ClimateXchange - and if you've got questions you can't answer we'll help you find the answer
  • You'll learn loads about eco-renovation in Oxfordshire, meet others to share the info with, and get briefed on the latest grants and funding developments.
