Energy, transition towns and upcoming events.
Energy in OxfordshireWhere are energy comes from in the future is a subject that will be very live over the coming months and years.. but what does your community think? What questions do you have? We've aiming to have 10 ‘Energy A-Z' events over the next few months - and can supply speakers to talk about all the aspects - from current to future energy supplies, what we use if for, how much is wasted in the National Grid, and what we can do on a community and household level. If you'd like to initiate an event, contact us! Energy resourcesCheck out ‘What are we waiting for? A short film about decentralised energy', produced by Greenpeace, that you can view online: http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/blog/climate/decentralised-energy-w or we will shortly have copies for you to borrow. More energy resources in our links section: http://climatex.org/links/ Transition TownsThe Transition Towns movement is gathering momentum across the UK. I was lucky enough to go to their first network conference held on Thurs 31st May in Stroud. The movement is showing that a positive community focussed on rising to the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil is highly infectious, community building..and a lot of fun! Find out more at: http://www.transitiontowns.org/ or come and hear more about it at Braziers park on June 6th (see events below). You can also hear interviews from the day on : http://coinet.org.uk/information/climate_radio/lcs5 Oxfordshire Attitude SurveySo what does Oxfordshire think and feel about climate change? We'd have safer roads, cleaner air and a better quality of life. It's easier to do than you think. Change your world is asking you to swap just one car trip from 1-7th July and choose something that's better for the planet instead. And guess what? If we all give up one car journey that week we'll reduce car traffic by 10%.
