Blatant plug for Transition Towns talk on 29th Nov!

One of the most inspiring solutions to climate change and peak oil is the Transition Towns movement which is, to coin a marketing phrase, ‘going viral'.

The concept is simple - we need to make a planned transition away from fossil fuel dependence, but involves two crucial points:

1. that we used immense amounts of creativity, ingenuity and adaptability on
the way up the energy upslope, and that there's no reason for us not to do
the same on the down slope.
2. if we collectively plan and act early enough there's every likelihood
that we can create a way of living that's significantly more connected, more
vibrant and more in touch with our environment than the oil-addicted
treadmill that we find ourselves on today.

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyXZpUGnJ0E for one of many videos online, or see http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2007/apr/19/energy.ethicalliving for a report about Transition Towns.

Come, be inspired, and discuss if we could get Oxfordshire transitioning.
