So what is the USA doing about climate change? Step it Up is a US based organisation, galvanising communities to rise to the climate challenge. On 14th April 2007, 1,450 separate events took place across the USA, involving thousands of people. To show solidarity and celebrate the mass actions across the pond, a number of Oxfordshrie organisations came together to let people know how to get climate active locally. Step It Up 2007On Sat 14th April 2007, Americans called on their leaders to act immediately to stop global warming. In all 50 states, at more than 1400 iconic places across the nation, we have united around a common call to action: "Step It Up Congress: Cut Carbon 80% by 2050." Your move, Congress. The Oxford event brought together the range of campaigning and networking groups on climate change to do an interactive street stall. We invited people to answer 3 questions (see pictures below) and gave out information about ClimateXchange, COIN, Climate Camp, Campaign Against Climate Change, Oxford City Council Energy Efficiency info, did vox pop interviews and more Oxfordshire Attitudes surveys.
