The film shows the devastating consequences that the industry is having on both the local population's health and their water supply. The method of extracting the crude oil from the tar sands is massively water intensive, taking four barrels of water to produce just one barrel of oil. This is resulting in mass water shortages in the area as well as leaving giant lakes of toxic, contaminated water. H2Oil forms part of the Toxic Fuels trilogy along with Dirty Oil and Petropolis that together explore the devastating impact of the industry. |
