Blue is bad because it means the heat is escaping...

Red is bad because it shows that the heat is coming through. You can see the distinctive shape and effectiveness of the thin layer of insulation (discarded polystyrene).

This shows the effect of the insulation - dark blue is good, red is bad!

In addition to the heat loss throught the door and windows, slight heat loss can be seen in the green areas 
1) above the door 
2) a small triangle below the M
3) through the roof (the walls upstairs slope into the roof)

This shows the effect of the insulation - our house is on the right. The adjoining semi on the left has fairly new render but without insulation.
