Opening our home

We're taking part for the first time in the ecovation open days this year - September 10 and 12 2009. This is the fulfillment of one ambition but is utterly terrifying.

As well as information on what we have done and how I'm hoping to write information on what we hope to do next.

Perhaps people will be able to return in a couple of years and see how the project continues to progress...

That's interesting - we've just borrowed a dehumidifier and it hasn't had nearly as bad an effect on our electricity use as I'd feared.

Very interested to read your blog, as we are just about to commence eco-renovation work on our house, including external insulation. It's great that you got such a positive result in terms of energy saving - I really hope though that we don't have your experience in terms of the time it takes!

I noticed your solution to not having a tumble drier - our solution (also two small children and washable nappies) has been to use a dehumidifier when clothes have to be dried inside in winter / when central heating is on. It has reduced damp problems, speeds up drying and uses less energy than a tumble drier.
