Hello again. Today is my last day at climatexchange. So much has
happened this week:
1) The interviews with my friends went really well. It was really great finding out what they thought about
climate change. They had some really interesting opinions to share
and I learnt a lot from them. I have already edited the interviews
and put them together to make a short 5 minute movie (which I am
quite proud of since I have never used movie maker in my life!). As
soon as I get permission from all of my friends, I will upload the
video on youtube and post a link to it on my page so you can take a
look.
2) On Wednesday I interviewed Dr Tina Fawcett who is involved
with the personal carbon allowances scheme. It sounds like a very
realistic way of reducing emissions. I will be posting up the
transcript asap.
3) Yesterday, I was editing an interview with Dr Chris West from the UK Climate Impacts Programme. Jo interviewed
him on camera and I just did a bit of editing to make a short movie
of the interview. I have already posted it on youtube so take a
look at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmoCFc_0yyQ. Oh and please
give me some feedback because I really am new to this whole movie
maker business. Anyway, I think he really has some fascinating
stuff to say about communicating and tackling climate change in
different ways. I actually did some work at UKCIP last summer
putting together a database of all the water projects I could find
concerning climate change. It was a really amazing experience and I
got to know a lot about UKCIP and how it works. I think the impacts
and adaptation approach is really key to the climate struggle.
Please take a look at their website at: http://www.ukcip.org.uk/.
There are a lot of really good resources up on there. My water
database should be up there somewhere I think.
4) I have arranged a meeting with my Headmistress for Monday to discuss screening An Inconvenient Truth at my school along with a talk/discussion.
Jo, Ian, and I also had a massive brainwave at lunch to organise a climate fest for all the schools in Oxfordshire to inspire creative ideas and find out what solutions and visions to climate change our
schools have. So, I will be running that by my head on Monday as
well. I will keep you updated on any developments.
5) I will be interviewing Dr Myles Allen (who leads the climateprediction.net
experiment) next week via E-mail which should be really
interesting. I will upload the interview onto the website asap so
you can take a look. Please do go on the
climateprediction website: http://climateprediction.net/ and
download the model. It is really fascinating to watch and also just
to be part of.
6) So that is it. I have had a really great time here at ClimateX and hope to stay in close contact when I go back to
school!
