Climate Explorer: Sam Callard

Sam Callard

Explorer Profile

I have lived in Oxfordshire for as long as I can remember, so it comes as no suprise that I care for it, and I hope to show others how to care for it. In my village of East Hendred, I hope to create a group of people who care about where they live as much as I do, and help the village by clearing little, ditches etc. But the climate extends further than a village, and there are many ways in which I hope to help the publics realisation in the climate as a whole.

Video for Climate Exchange

Hello all, Since my work experience here is nearly over, I thought I would show you what I have been making myself busy with... Enjoy! http://youtube.com/watch?v=Y9lZFE_Tr94 S

Work Experience, 16th July

Hello, I'm Sam Callard. I'm a work experience student from year 10 at King Alfred's in Wantage. The next week is looking rather promising, and I'm really looking forward to it. Today I've been watching various films and videos (on this very nice laptop) about Climate Change, including 'What are we waiting for?' by Greenpeace, a film that Klara from Cherwell School made asking her colleagues about Climate Change, 'Waking Up To Climate Change', an fim made by an American student about people's attitudes to Climate Change, and various others.

The main thing that hit home was that the vast majority of the planet (at least in the developed areas) know that Climate Change is happening, and are aware of the effects and possible outcomes of their actions but the public seem to be waiting on the Government to do something, and the Government are waiting on the general public to do something. I guess this is where Climate Exchange comes in - I'll keep you posted. Sam

Climate explorers introductions, 26th March 07

Meeting other Climate Explorers was really fun. I got to know so many people, and they all have very interesting ideas (including going to China and Australia to get different air samples, and different clothes) and opinions. being the youngest was different aspect of it too... Seeing all the different tools was very interesting indeed, some of the posters i might have to nick because they are very  good at conveying their message.

Seing where I was going to work for work experience was good aswel, (which is at Climate Exchange), I have another reason to look forward to the summer. I  now have to think of something to do there, which could take some time due to amount of options i have, so if anyone has any ideas please tell me.
